Policing-Free Schools Edmonton is a grassroots collective situated in amiskwacîwâskahikan (ᐊᒥᐢᑿᒌᐚᐢᑲᐦᐃᑲᐣ) that advocates for the end of policing and carceral infrastructures, practices, policies, logics and culture in schools and education systems. We envision and work towards the creation of transformative, healthy, caring, and equitable educational spaces.
At Policing-Free Schools Edmonton, we believe it is necessary to de-task police and remove them from educational spaces so that we can populate our schools with the skilled professionals and transformative practices that will help our children and youth thrive. To accomplish these goals, Policing-Free Schools Edmonton calls for a well-resourced public education that provides the infrastructure, staffing, and student support needed.
